If you'd rather not have to check your gauge at all, our Smart Gauge technology monitors your tank level automatically and lets you check it anytime through our app or customer portal.
If you run out of fuel, the system has to be restarted. Air gets trapped between your tank and the burner and must be bled out for the system to run again. Let us know when you order, and our driver can prime and restart your system for an additional fee.
If running out of oil is a recurring concern, our Automatic Delivery and MyFill™ programs use Smart Gauge technology to monitor your tank level and schedule deliveries before you ever get close to empty.
Our standard minimum delivery is 100 gallons, but we can deliver as little as 50 gallons with an extra $30 fee for orders under 100 gallons. To avoid additional charges, please be sure your tank can hold at least 100 gallons before placing an order for fuel.
In the colder months, it's a good idea to schedule a delivery when your tank reaches 1/4 full. This way, you have plenty of fuel even if a snowstorm hits. If you'd rather not track this yourself, our Smart Gauge technology does it for you, automatically scheduling deliveries for Automatic Delivery, Triple Save, and MyFill™ customers.
In warmer months, you can be more flexible, but we recommend filling up if you have a steel tank to prevent corrosion from moisture.
Many factors determine the daily price of heating oil. However, due to supply and demand, the warmer months of May through September are typically a good time to purchase heating fuel.
Similar to other home heating fuels, heating oil is traded in the commodities market. This means prices are subject to fluctuations, just like the stock market.
Same-day delivery is often available at no extra charge across our Rhode Island and Massachusetts service area. If you order using our mobile app or website, a team member will review and process the order as soon as possible and notify you by email once a delivery date is set. If you call or text to place the order, our team member will provide a delivery date at the time of the order. Our team processes and delivers your order as quickly as possible, no matter how you decide to place it.
Usually not! You do not need to be home unless you have requested a special service or if it's our first delivery to your home. For first-time deliveries, we must perform a quick tank inspection for safety. This can be done in person or virtually before delivery.
Please clear a path to your fill pipe and make sure there are no obstacles, especially during winter. Trim any bushes so there is enough space for the driver to access the pipe safely. During the winter months, please clear a path in the snow and clear the driveway of ice and snow for safe delivery.
We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash, and money orders. Unfortunately, we do not accept paper check payments.
No. We do not charge extra for card payments.
Yes, your price is locked in for that delivery once your order has been confirmed. Honest, transparent pricing has been part of who we are since day one.
When you order a fill-up for your oil tank, we do not know exactly how much fuel your tank will need. Therefore, we authorize 100 gallons before the delivery, and the remaining balance is charged once the delivery is complete. Those two charges will always add up to the total on your receipt and nothing more.
To support our commitment to sustainability, including our solar farm and efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, we send paperless receipts via email to most customers. If you prefer a paper receipt, please let us know, and we will update your account.
Automatic Delivery ensures you never run out of heating oil. We install a Smart Gauge monitor on your tank that tracks your actual oil level daily, so there is no guesswork involved. When your tank reaches approximately 25%, a delivery is automatically scheduled and optimized into our delivery routes across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Yes, heating oil is non-explosive and fire-resistant with a flash point of 140°F. For safety, however, please check your holding tank annually for signs of wet or leaking on or around the tank. Watch: "How to inspect your oil tank"
Heating oil storage tanks can last for decades if properly maintained and inspected.
Corrosion is the typical cause of tank failure. Heating oil tanks are always exposed to outside air through the vent piping. Especially here in the Northeast, we have cool nights and warm days. These temperature changes can cause moisture to form inside the tank. That moisture will eventually corrode the inside walls of the tank.
No, a properly functioning oil tank does not smell. If you notice an odor, it could be a problem with the tank, piping, or heating system. Contact a service professional if you have a sign of concern.

Bioheat® fuel is made by blending heating fuel with renewable biodiesel. Biodiesel is produced from a variety of raw materials and by-products that would otherwise go to waste, including soybean oil, inedible corn, animal fats, used cooking oil, and canola oil. Because these are by-products of producing high-protein foods, no food is sacrificed to make biodiesel.
Biodiesel is made from waste products and by-products of the existing food supply chain, which makes it a renewable resource rather than a fossil fuel.
Biodiesel producers convert waste fats, oils, and greases into fuel through a chemical process called transesterification. In this process, glycerin is separated from the fat or vegetable oil, leaving behind two products: methyl esters and glycerin. The remaining glycerin is used in products like soap, while the methyl esters become biodiesel.

Yes. Modern heating oil equipment can achieve AFUE ratings up to 95%. Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) measures how much heat stays in the system versus how much escapes up the chimney. A higher AFUE rating means more efficient equipment and lower costs to heat your home.
